AhlulBayt News Agency: Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baqaei slammed the United Nations's response to the United States-Israel's onslaught against Tehran, urged the global body to “shoulder its legal and moral responsibilities” over the illegal war.
Writing on X on Friday, Baqaei called on UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to describe the regional developments more directly."Let's call a spade a spade," he wrote, dismissing generic descriptions referring to the situation as simple “fighting” and stressing that Iran was facing a deliberate act of aggression.“This is not 'the fighting'; this is an 'unprovoked assault' launched by two nuclear armed regimes against Iran," he added.The spokesman reminded that the attacks took place, while diplomatic efforts were ongoing between Tehran and Washington as was the case concerning the previous round of unlawful Israeli-American aggression towards the nation, which took place last June.
The US and Israel started a fresh round of aerial aggression on Iran in late February, some eight months after they carried out unprovoked assaults on the country. The raids led to the martyrdom of more than 1,300 civilians, including women and children, as well as military commanders.Iran began to swiftly and firmly retaliate against the strikes by launching barrages of missile and drone attacks on the Israeli-occupied territories as well as on US bases in regional countries.
